Hello. We came back to school yesterday from winter break.
During the winter break, I was in my home town, Fukui. The last two days of staying there, I went and looked for my Furisode, which is for coming age day next year. I went four stores with my mom, however, I did not buy anything eventually. We found some nice kimonos and we asked clerk to save them for just one day, but you know, I was still thinking about which one is the best and could not choose one, so I decided that I am going to come back here during the spring break and then go look around again.
I just wondered that everyone is going to buy Furisode for coming age day or just rent them, because they are not cheap, they are SO expensive! Well, I am going to buy it anyways, lol
Thank you.

Wedding*
Hi everyone.
Last weekend, I went back to my home town. The purpose of going back was to attend the wedding of my saxophone teacher. That wedding was on Sunday evening and I had school on Monday on first period so I had to come back here really late at night. I went back there on Friday night, I had Sukiyaki at home with my family, which was SO great. Since I am living by myself, I do not usually have nabe, such as Sukiyaki, so that was really nice for me. Then, on Saturday, I went shopping with my mom. I really like to go shopping with my mom:) At that night, we went for Yakiniku, which was so great, too.
So, on Sunday, I went to the wedding. My teacher was so pretty, it made me think I really want to get married soon! lol. Since I had to come back here, the wedding started at 7, but I had to leave there at 8 or something. It was just for an hour that I could be there but it was fun. I went there with my friends who was also in brass band and we got a present for our teacher before we got the place which the wedding was held. Since we had not seen her for a long time, there were a lot of topics we could talk about.
Then my mom came to pick me up and went to the station. Mom bought me some food that I can eat on the train before I got on the train. It was really short time but really fun. I miss my family but you know the christmas and new year break will come soon so I can see them again.
We have only 4days left until that break!
Thank you<3

In a hurry*
Hi. How are you guys? I am really tired these days but I do not know why. I got sick a few days ago again. *sigh*
So my research paper has to be done by this Friday for the first due. I was working on it a little bit, I mean I was reading a book. And then teacher told us that the first draft of paper due.. this Friday. That means I have to work on it really hard as soon as possible so I am not going to write this blog that much today.
My topic is not that easy to research since it does not have exact definition, people are still talking, discussing about it today. But whatever. I will work on it from now on.
Thanks for reading if you read this.

macaroni and cheese*
Hi. Yesterday I just got a package from my host mother for Christmas, which is what I talked about on my blog last time. There are some presents and a letter in it and all of them were really nice. I am really happy with it. For surprising, she sent me a "macaroni and cheese" (kraft dinner) in warmy socks in a package! That "macaroni and cheese" was one of my favorite food in Canada, which is really easy to make and good taste. I was expecting that Japan has it as well, but I found that it did not have so I guess she remembered that I liked that one and now she sent me one. Now, I do not want to open and eat it since I have only one right now and I will not be able to have it until I go to Canada again.
The third weekend of November, the entrance exam of Kansai Gaidai was taken by high school students. One or two months before that exam, I got an email from a student at my high school who is one year junior to me. Then she said like she wants to know how to study or what she should study for it since she was going to take that exam, so I told her what I did (actually I did not study that much, I think) and after all, she got passed that exam. She emailed me about it a week after she took the exam. I was really glad to hear that and at the same time I remembered about last year. I did the same thing at that time. How fast the time passes! Well, speaking about it, 2007 is almost done, less than a month left. I felt like this year has passed really fast for some reasons.
Before we welcome the year 2008, we have Christmas and stuff so I hope I will have a lot of fun on that day!
Thanks.

from all the way across the pacific*
Hi, it is getting colder out there.
I guess I have a cold again because my throat hurts.
Yesterday, I got an email from my host mother in Canada. She told me that she sent me a package for Christmas! I am really glad and excited to see what is in it. I left there a year and half ago, but still we are emailing each othere sometime or talk on the MSN. I am really happy with having this kind of relationship with her. In her email, she always told me to go back to Canada, and I also want to visit her or my friends sometime but now I cannot afford it:( I think I am really lucky, happy that she thinks of me like her real daughter. I hope I can visit there sometime soon.
Also I got a message from Nicole, who is my best friend in Canada, on Facebook. She, once, came to Japan, a year ago or something and visited me which was really fun, fun memory. We went to same high school in Canada, well that was only for a year but we became really closer friends. She is very intelligent, kind, and .. FUNNY. She always makes me laugh, too much sometimes, but I really love her. So I have not seen her for a year or so, I guess it is time to see her again, lol. I really want to and I hope so.
Everytime they email me or talk to me, it reminds me about my life in Canada. I really miss all of them, I am trying to save my money and go visit there sometime soon, but it is kind of difficult to do because I am living by myself so that means I cannot spend money however I want. At least, I am TRYING.
Well, this is all about for today's blog. Thanks.

In a dangerous situation*
I read the letter on the Japan Times website. So I will talk about this letter for today's blog.
In this letter, "Alone at a time of danger", she is talking about the recent dangerous events for women, and regarding this, she is complaining about that people really do nothing even they hear for the help or see that a person who is in a danger, so that means no one is going to help you or do anything if you were in a dangerous situation - which is really scary.
To make the readers to think like that or believe her, she is bringing two examples which is actually happened in Japan recently, and also stating that what people who were there have done, for those victims: NOTHING.
Also she is asking readers two questions that she already has the answer. Then, she is ending up this letter with a kind of harsh personal opinion, emotionally. It seems like she is warning women to be careful or even do not think like that they can wait for someone to help you as she said at the end, because the events happened actually, and it is not only one time - people did not do anything although they actually heard or saw a person who is in a danger.

New system - for immigration procedure*
About the new immigration procedure system; getting foreigners to be fingerprinted and photographed every time they enter Japan. This is for preventing from the international terrorists. Kevin Rafferty claimed, in the article "Not so welcome to Japan any longer", it is not a good idea. He considered this as discriminatory and even if they do that, it is not easy to identify between fingerprints and terrorists. Basically this system is considered to be useless.
If people think it helps preventing from the terrorists, then they can try. It might help, but it is considered to be not that effective. Also it just sounds impossible that immigration bureau has to take a lot of fingerprints for a year, moreover, those terrorists are smart - Michael G. Driver claims that in "Smart terrorists won't be stopped". Plus, the foreign visitors will feel unwelcome. It does not seem to be a good idea.
